First Alaskans Institute Website Privacy Policy

This policy covers how First Alaskans Institute treats personal and aggregate information collected on its website. As the website technology evolves and content/options are added, First Alaskans will update this policy.

Information Collection and Use Practices

First Alaskans Institute does not collect personally identifiable information when browsing its website and/or requesting web pages from the First Alaskans server except to the extent that it is voluntarily and knowingly provided. This means that First Alaskans will not know your name, e-mail address, or any other personally identifiable information just because you browse the website unless you:

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Non-Personally Identifiable/Aggregate Information: First Alaskans may share aggregated demographic information about First Alaskans user base. This information does not identify individual users. We do not link aggregate user data with personally identifiable information.

Personally Identifiable Information: First Alaskans Institute will not share e-mail addresses with any third party. Email subscribers will only receive the information they requested, and can change their email subscription preferences at any time.

Personal information collected by First Alaskans will not be disclosed to any third party, except that First Alaskans may make disclosures to appropriate law enforcement agencies as may be required or as may be deemed appropriate by First Alaskans. Information will be given to law enforcement personnel without a subpoena or court order whenever necessary to aid in identifying and prosecuting any person using our services for illegal activities.

Service Providers: We use third parties to provide email distribution on this website. If you sign up to receive email newsletters, we will share personally identifiable information, such as your email address and name, as may be necessary for the third party to provide the services you request. These third parties are prohibited from using your personally identifiable information for any other purposes.

Log Files: First Alaskans gathers certain information automatically and stores it in log files in order to analyze trends, administer the website, track user’s movements around the site, and gather demographic information about its user base as a whole. This information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type,internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. Information collected in this manner does not identify individual users and First Alaskans does not link this automatically collected data to personally identifiable information.

Cookies: A cookie is a small text file that is stored on a user’s computer for record-keeping purposes. First Alaskans uses Cookies to gather non-personally identifiable information about visitors to its site in the aggregate in order to track marketing effectiveness, analyze website use and provide continual improvements for its users. First Alaskans does not link the information stored in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit.

First Alaskans Institute has security measures to protect the information and systems it maintains. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and after it has been received.
