Sangáay ‘láa, Good Day!
Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa, thank you for your continued support of First Alaskans Magazine, published by First Alaskans Institute (FAI), a statewide Alaska Native nonprofit organization working to advance our Native peoples for the next 10,000 years. We greatly appreciate your patience as we navigate through the pandemic while creating aneasily accessible digital version of our magazine that celebrates and uplifts Alaska Native peoples, communities, and our ways of life.
Our Native peoples are diverse, our homelands unlike anywhere else on earth, our ways of life are profoundly connected to the wellbeing of Alaska and the world, our cultures and languages are powerful libraries to better know this place, and our vibrant Indigenous points of view, arts, and lived realities help us know humanity in more profound ways. We publish this magazine in order to share this richness with the world. To increase readership and access, we are currently offering the digital magazine free of charge. In lieu of “magazine subscriptions” we are inviting you to become a supporter of this critical Indigenous content by making a tax-deductible donation.
As a supporter, you will be emailed magazine updates and links, special features and highlights, opportunities for readership surveys and the ability to submit content or story ideas. In this new digital format, we are able to share links to videos and other online content that further connects you to the stories, writers, communities, or organizations mentioned in the magazine, making it more interactive and engaging.
As a nonprofit magazine, we also want to ask for your help in the following ways:
For those of you with current subscriptions, we want to honor your subscription by offering you a refund or by converting it to a tax-deductible donation to support the magazine. Please let us know your preference by emailing [email protected]. No matter what you decide, we appreciate and thank you, and hope you will continue to enjoy these free digital editions.
Like so many of you, we look forward to the day we can offer our magazine once again in hard copy as well as digital. Our hope is to do this for our October 2021 edition. We commit to re-evaluating how soon we can start printing hard copies and whether the switch to donations will help support the magazine’s longevity. We love the amazing content our writers and creatives are sharing through the magazine and feel a deep responsibility to bring the brilliance of our Native peoples to even more people.
Háw’aa, Gunalchéesh, for your continued support of First Alaskans Magazine!
Take care,
