OFFICIAL INFORMATION & RULES

Our theme, ahnuu dAXunhyuu AXAkihya’iLka’ GAdAqeeLinuu (Eyak) (Side by side in the same direction the people go by canoe) is presented in the Eyak language and amplifies this critical movement and journey we are on. We look to our Elders and our youth to help set our course in the right direction for our peoples. The theme is an empowering example of breaking the reins of colonization by Indigenizing all aspects of life and forever practicing the ways of our peoples.  

The second virtual First Alaskans Institute (FAI) 10^th Annual Howard Rock & Ted Stevens Smokehouse Gala is designed to do just that! Join us as we celebrate Native Heritage Month, honor and uplift our peoples and artists, and raise funds to continue to do our work. All proceeds from the gala go towards advancing Alaska Native ways of life, ensuring Alaska Native peoples are involved in decision-making at all levels, and cultivating our leadership responsibility from birth to Ancestor. We want to have some fun along the way and give our community a chance to play along!

Silent Auction Scavenger Hunt Contest

How to enter the Silent Auction Scavenger Hunt Contest: 

• Review the Silent Auction site at: https://smokehouse2021.givesmart.com
• Fill out the survey to answer scavenger hunt questions at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SmokehouseGala2021
• Contest begins on November 13, 2021 and entries must be received by November 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm 
• Eligible submissions with correct answers will be entered in a random drawing.
• Winners will be announced on Friday, November 19 during our livestream winner reveal at 7pm.

How to enter the What You Would Have Worn Contest:

• Post a photo or video of what you would have worn to the 2021 Smokehouse Gala if it was held in person. Attire is usually Native regalia, Indigenized formal wear, and/or black tie.
• Photo must have been taken in 2021. Photos from prior galas or other events are not eligible. 
• Post must be on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok and set to public view. If your Instagram account is private, you must send us a direct message with a screenshot.
• Posts must have the hashtag #smokehousegala2021outfit to be eligible.
• Must fill out entry form and sign the permission and release form at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SmokehouseGalaOutfit
• Contest begins on November 13, 2021 and entries must be received by November 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm 
• Eligible submissions will be entered in a random drawing.
• Winners will be announced on Friday, November 19, 2021 during our livestream winner reveal at 7 pm. We may also share some entries in a compilation video.

Official Rules of the Contests:

The Contests will be administered by FAI. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, the final decisions of FAI, and the spirit in which they are offered as noted below. The Contests are subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.  

Contest Spirit: The Contests were created to have fun, celebrate our people and our amazing cultural pieces and arts, appreciate the amazing folks who make the Gala memorable, and share prizes without having to purchase something. We ask you to keep the spirit of this celebration in your heart. This is about uplifting and celebrating our Native peoples. Have fun, keep it all ages appropriate, and don’t get upset or hurt if you are not selected. 

• No purchase necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited. A purchase or contribution will not increase your chances of winning.
• The contest is limited to one entry per person for each contest. Open to individuals, 18 years of age and older as of November 1, 2021.
• All decisions are final. FAI reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or lesser value. Prize exchanges are not allowed.
• Winners are solely liable for any tax implications.
• Winners will be notified. Winner must claim prize by contacting Qunmiġu Kacey Hopson directly to verify and sign tax documents within 5 days of notification or will lose the prize. To claim prize, please email [email protected].
• By entering the What You Would Have Worn Contest, you agree to give FAI permission to use your submitted photograph, image or video, and to publish, or display the same without incurring any debts, charges, fees, or liabilities of any kind. Some images may be retained in FAI stock files and used as FAI deems appropriate. Image(s) could be used in magazines, books, brochures, annual reports, website, advertisements, or other organizational uses aligned with the non-profit’s charitable purposes.
• While we do not intend to change the games or the rules, in the event we deem it appropriate to do so, FAI reserves the right to change the rules or alter the contest in the spirit of the Gala and/or the contest, and in accordance with state regulations. 
• The What You Would Have Worn Contest is in no way sponsored, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram or Tiktok.

Alaska Airlines Ticket Voucher Travel Rules and Restrictions: 

This certificate is valid for flights served by Alaska Airlines fight numbered 1-1999, 2000-2999, SkyWest Airlines flights 3450-3499. Not valid for flights on the codeshare partners. Mileage Plan Miles cannot be earned or credited. First Class paid upgrades or mileage plan upgrades are allowed. Standard baggage fees apply; see our checked baggage policy and flight schedules at www.alaskaair.com for more details. Individual travel taxes may apply. Once ticketed, no changes to the passenger name, origin city or destination city allowed. This certificate is void if bartered or sold. If lost, this certificate may not be reissued. To book your travel, please follow instructions on travel authorization form. Expiration date November 1, 2022.
