Leadership Development

Helping to develop the
next generation of Alaska Native leadership, ensuring that they are connected to their culture and each other.

OPPORTUNITY: FAI INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP CONTINUUM FELLOWSHIPS
We are now accepting applications through Monday, November 23 for the following FAI Indigenous Leadership Continuum (ILC) Fellowships to learn political processes and grow Indigenous advocacy within the three sovereigns of our country:

  • 2021 Rural Governance Fellowship (Tribal governments, statewide) January 1 – May 31, 2021, dates are flexible due to needs of the Tribe
  • 2021 Public Policy Fellowship (Juneau, AK) January 13 – April 19, 2021
  • 2021 Al Adams Young Political Leader Fellowship (Washington, D.C.) January 1 – May 31, 2021

• Quyanaasinaq for attending the First Alaskans Institute’s 37th Annual Elders & Youth Conference on October 11-14!

Elders & Youth Resolutions Passed:

  • FAI Resolution 20-01 – REQUESTING THE ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE TO MAKE THE HOUSE TRIBAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE A STANDING COMMITTEE –
  • FAI Resolution 20-02 – SUPPORTING THE WALTER HARPER PROJECT AND RECLAIMING THE FIRST SUMMIT OF DENALI 
  • FAI Resolution 20-03 – MAKE GAY PANIC DEFENSE ILLEGAL UNDER ALASKA LAW 

 

 

Community Investments

Our commitment to highlighting and supporting what is working well in Alaska, funding projects that promote healthy and thriving communities, and publishing the First Alaskans Magazine.
